Responsive Mobile Design
AT's layout engine responds to the device your site is being viewed on - smartphone, tablet or standard screen sizes. First you configure a default layout with the easy to use theme settings, and then how the layout will change for each device type. In the latest 7.x-3.x version you can even switch this capability off, and use it later when you're ready. Learn more about customizing layouts.
Awesome Support
Free support for the core theme is quick and helpful - just submit an issue and we'll answer just as soon as we can. There is also an IRC channel: #drupal-adaptivetheme.
To help support our open source projects we offer our Premium Drupal Theme Club. Club members get prioritised support for any Adaptivetheme related issue and access to our range of premium responsive Drupal themes.
Version Information
Always match version for version - this means the subtheme and Adaptivetheme core need to be the same version, for example:
Adaptivetheme 7.x-2.x => use 7.x-2.x subthemes
Adaptivetheme 7.x-1.x =>use 7.x-1.x subthemes
7.x-3.0-beta
The alpha series was a great success and we got quite a few minor issues fixed, so we're good to go for a round of final beta testing before cutting a release candidate at the end of the month. I am working on upgrading the contrib and commerical themes now and documenting issues as I encounter them, expect these docs to grow over the next few weeks. Please see the following issues:

There are literally thousands of updates in 7.x-3.x, however there are several major changes to this theme worth noting:
- Plugabble Layouts: AT Core now uses two types of plugins, "page layout" plugins and "panels" plugins to drive the entire layout system.
- Responsive Panels and Gpanels.
- SASS integration.
- Performance optimized - 7.x-3.x theme is smoking fast.
The Panels layouts work seamlessly with Panels and Display Suite giving you absolute power and control over the responsive layout down to the field level - control the page layout with the responsive page layouts or Panels, and Node content with Display suite and the Layout Plugins.
There is good documentation in the theme files, however I will need to abstract this out and put it online. Here is a general run down of some of the more obvious changes.
7.x-3.x Core features
- 7 main page layouts over 5 breakpoints.
- 14 responsive Panels and Gpanels layouts supported over 3 breakpoints with multiple choice selection for each, totals around 132 layouts to choose from.
- Mobile first by default, support for desktop first if you need it.
- Supports both stepped and cascading responsive design approaches.
- Add conditional stylesheets and scripts from the info file.
- Polyfills - includes HTML5 shiv, Respond.js (off by default), boxsizing.htc, PIE, support for Selectivizr and an iOS fill that fixes the orientation change bug - all can be toggled on or off in theme settings.
- Ability to disable the responsive layout, defaults to the standard desktop layout.
- Builds and optimizes all layout CSS depending on theme settings, only loads what is required.
7.x-3.x Extensions
AT 7.x-3.x ships with optional "Extensions", these are off by default and you can turn on only what you need:
- Fonts - websafe, Google fonts (500 built in), custom fonts and tight integration with @font-your-face module for unlimited font selection.
- Title and heading styles - fine grain control over alignment, weight, style and even apply shadows.
- Mobile friendly meta tags.
- Apple touch icons - just turn them on and enter the paths to your icons.
- Image field alignement and image captions.
- Breadcrumb settings, change the seperator, hide all breadcrumbs or just the home link.
- Many markup overrides - change the gutter width, or use a special page template with 100% width wrappers for designs that demand it.
- Custom CSS input - for those minor overrides, no need to build a sub-theme, just enter some CSS in the text box provided.
Note that some of the form #states used in the appearance page take advantage of a new capability in Drupal core 7.x-dev, so this won't be included in Drupal core until 7.13 ships, it will all still work, but the UX is not as optimized as it will be.
There's more, lots more, and I will be documenting the entire theme with very detailed docs on each sub-system, how they work and how you can use them to speed up development.
