In German we have a formal an informal version: Strangers are referred to as “Sie” while people you are more familiar with (family and friends, often persons of the same age) are addressed with “Du”. Also, the formal version is more appropriate in business life as the informal speech may be considered as being intrusive.

Another thing I want to know is how work upgrade features. When upgrading from dashboard, if someone used formal version of WordPress translation, is always getting correct version of translation? or do user need to upgrade manually to get correct translation file ?

I’m sure you’ve all seen that the admin UI changed considerably in 3.8. If you haven’t already (and if it’s applicable), be sure and take a few minutes to update the screenshots on your locale website.

Because there’s code involved on the about page (e.g., the color scheme selector), I’d recommend using the introductory blog post instead, which has most of the images and text, but fits in a smaller page size. It should be much easier to copy over.
The video and screenshots are in English, of course, but you can pick and choose what’s relevant for your locale.

I can’t get 3.8 it_IT version every time i make a version i get a message like:
Couldn’t copy /tmp/rosettayuUOkc/it_IT/dist/LEGGIMI.txt to /tmp/rosetta5JUlto/wordpress!
everytime with a different filename from the dist dir of italian SVN.

I happened to stumble on the uk.wordpress.org website earlier today (Ukraine) and ouch. Latest released version was 3.6.1, the whole site was stuffed with links to wordpress.co.ua and their hosting and development services. I’m cleaning all of this stuff up (as far as my Google Translate-fu goes) and looking for trusted volunteers for translations and to take over the website. Luckily most folks in Ukraine also speak Russian.
For reference, here’s a list of previous validators and site editors: bohdaq, lilumi, lyncis, Lysenka.

This is the first time I released the new version. In most cases, releasing have to be done with tags/version number, as far as I know. When I did with trunk before, there were some strings untranslated. Now I can see the tags/3.8 and released successfully.

I had yo delete our pt_BR build because the translation wasn’t complete and I found errors, but now I can’t build it again. I tried but then I got the following error: “Impossível copiar /tmp/rosettanWjASY/pt_BR/dist/readme.html para /tmp/rosetta8UpsnO/wordpress!” Could somebody help us? Thanks

The WordPress 3.8 tag is created. Your revision # is r26747, but if you use the tag, you don’t need it. wp/dev is frozen from new strings for a day or two, so don’t be afraid to build from that.
I’ve temporarily sped up the speed at which new directories in the i18n SVN repo are picked up. Cheers all, happy releasing.

OK. I figured out. I used “ trunk” for locale branch and “3.8 and 3.8.X” as project and “26747” as WordPress revision. And, changed the version as “3.8” from
3.8.1-alpha.

I understand your confusion as I am still getting used to it all.
r26747 is the correct source revision as we need to use http://core.svn.wordpress.org/ to build packages.
The revision you list is correct but that is for the http://develop.svn.wordpress.org/ source which we DO NOT use to build packages.

Hi there. I have a few questions and issues that we’re trying to sort out over at vi.wordpress.org and
- On sites like http://ja.wordpress.org and http://es.wordpress.org there are welcome sections that I cannot figure out how to add into the Vietnamese site. There are only two users on the site right now, and we’re both Editors, and I’m not sure how page templates and/or front page content is set. Can you point me to some information on this?
- Do you have a list of validators for Vietnamese, or is there somewhere I can see it? The validators for the language at the moment should be me (philiparthurmoore), Tran Ngoc Tuan Anh (fitwp), and Buy Huy Thang (gsmeanspro). I thought I could control this from within the vi.wordpress.org Dashboard under Users, but it doesn’t seem to be related.
- We’re planning on creating a P2 for Vietnamese translators to chat with each other. Is there anything in place on the .org side of things to facilitate this directly on the .org site for Vietnamese or should I instead just set up a P2 elsewhere? I’m fine with either solution.

- You should have a page with the slug ‘/txt-welcome’ (default template), that’s the one. You can create it, if it isn’t there.
- http://wpcentral.io allegedly has a complete list of validators. Other than that I can check, but not right now, as I need to proxy to .org to do that.
- It’ll have to be outside .org, for the moment

If you’re an administrator on the forums, you should be able to open his profile for editing (there’s an Edit link on the right) and uncheck “This user is a bozo” checkbox.
