In a dynamic two-day GenAI Hackathon, Devoteam collaborated with STIM, Sweden’s premier collecting society for music, to pioneer generative AI solutions. This initiative resulted in three innovative project demos, showcasing immediate production potential and paving the way for future collaboration, significantly enhancing STIM’s operational efficiency.
The snapshot
1
Sweden’s largest music licensing company STIM recognised the potential of generative AI to optimise operations and improve customer interactions.
2
The hackathon utilised collaborative problem-solving and prioritisation to develop three project demos.
3
The demos included an internal FAQ bot, song title extraction, and sentiment analysis, showcasing immediate production potential.
Client Background
STIM is a non-profit member organisation tasked with ensuring that its more than 109 000 affiliated rightsholders and music publishers get paid when their music is used.
They are Sweden’s largest music licensing company, managing and representing the rights of songwriters, composers, and music publishers. Committed to innovation and operational excellence, STIM sought to explore the potential of generative AI to address key business challenges and enhance internal processes.

The Challenge
STIM faced several operational challenges that could be streamlined with AI, including:
- Inefficient internal FAQ processes.
- Difficulty extracting song titles from images.
- A need for more nuanced sentiment analysis of customer emails.
These challenges highlighted an opportunity for STIM to leverage generative AI to improve efficiency and customer experience.
STIM came to the hackathon fully prepared, with a clear vision of where AI could create value for their organization. Their readiness and engagement made all the difference—allowing us to move from ideas to working demos in just two days. It’s rare to see such an immediate impact, and it speaks to both STIM’s commitment to innovation and the power of generative AI when applied with the right focus. This collaboration is just the beginning.

The Solution
Devoteam orchestrated a two-day generative AI hackathon with STIM, focusing on collaborative problem-solving and solution development. The key components of the solution were:
- Collaborative Hackathon: A two-day event with 40-50 participants, including STIM’s CIO, to foster innovation and develop tangible solutions.
- Prioritisation: An impact/confidence scoring system was used to prioritise projects, ensuring alignment with STIM’s most pressing needs.
- Project Development: Three key projects were developed: an internal FAQ bot, song title extraction from images, and sentiment analysis for customer emails.
- Client Engagement: STIM’s active participation and technical expertise were crucial to the hackathon’s success. Their preparedness and clear articulation of needs facilitated a smooth and productive process.

The Results
The Hackathon resulted in three functional generative AI project, at least one suitable for immediate production.
STIM’s operational efficiency is set to significantly improve through the implementation of the internal FAQ bot and sentiment analysis tools.
The hackathon has established a foundation for or further collaboration.
The GenAI hackathon yielded significant results for STIM:
- Successful Demos: Three successful project demos were created, showcasing the potential of generative AI to address STIM’s challenges.
- Immediate Production Potential: At least one project demonstrated immediate production potential, highlighting the practical applicability of the solutions.
- Enhanced Efficiency: The internal FAQ bot and sentiment analysis projects promise to significantly enhance STIM’s operational efficiency.
- Improved Customer Experience: The sentiment analysis project aims to improve customer experience by enabling more tailored and appropriate responses.
- Future Collaboration: A follow-up meeting was scheduled to discuss further collaboration, indicating STIM’s satisfaction and commitment to continued partnership.
This hackathon wasn’t just about exploring AI—it was about putting it to work. Devoteam’s structured approach helped us rapidly identify and build solutions that address real challenges. Their expertise in AI, combined with our domain knowledge, made this a truly valuable collaboration.
