Is includeBareTokens still needed?
Now that each occurrence carries a declaration flag, property keys are already special-cased indirectly: a bare '--wpds-foo' string used as a Property key has declaration: false (no : follows the token), so without the includeBareTokens: false override it would still get flagged.
That override is what protects property keys from the bareToken message, but it feels like we're now carrying two parallel mechanisms (the declaration flag for in-string cases, and includeBareTokens for the AST-level property-key case). It works, but if the intent is "don't flag anything that is itself a declaration", maybe the property-key carve-out could be expressed by passing declaration: true for those occurrences instead — keeping one concept across the board. Not a blocker, just a design nudge worth considering before this lands.

I took a look at this, but I'm inclined to keep it as is.
The declaration flag is meant to describe parsed in-string occurrences, whereas includeBareTokens: false is handling the separate property-key exception at the AST level. We could force those into one concept, but I think the current split is a little more explicit, so I think I'd prefer not to rework that here.

The includeBareTokens option exists only to cover the one AST-level case (object property keys) where the occurrence would otherwise have declaration: false.
Not a blocker — it works. But if you want to tidy up before landing, an alternative would be to mark the property-key occurrence as declaration: true at the call site and drop the option entirely:

Improves the design token lint rules for declaration-like CSS strings in JavaScript.
This updates
no-setting-ds-tokensto catch--wpds-*assignments not just in object property keys, but also in string literals and template literals, including cases where the declaration name or value is partially dynamic.It also updates
no-unknown-ds-tokensso unknown token names are still reported in declaration strings, while declaration occurrences are excluded only from the bare-tokenvar()wrapping check.Why?
The previous behavior mixed a few concerns in ways that were confusing.
A declaration like
--wpds-color-fg-content-neutral: red;is a token assignment, not a bare token usage, so reporting it as a missingvar()wrapper looked like a lint bug.At the same time, unknown token names inside declarations should still be reported even when consumers are not using both rules together.
